Frase Pricing (2026): Plans, Limits, Overages, and True Cost

Frase starts at $39/month with annual billing, but plan fit now depends on more than its editor. Articles, audit pages, seats, domains, Content Guard coverage, AI visibility, and publishing controls all change by tier.

Frase now covers research, drafting, CMS publishing, audits, AI visibility monitoring, and approved content updates. You still supply company knowledge, approve factual claims, and decide what should publish.

This guide compares the current plans, limits, overages, annual commitments, and best-fit use cases. I also ran Frase's Scale trial and took an article through it, so the calls below come from using it.

Frase pricing at a glance

Frase has three publicly priced plans and a custom Enterprise tier. The table shows the current rates, annual charge, and the capacity differences most likely to trigger an upgrade.

Annual billing is about 20% cheaper, but Frase charges the full year upfront. That means paying $468 for Starter, $1,236 for Professional, or $2,868 for Scale at checkout.

Prices and limits checked July 30, 2026 against Frase's official pricing page.

How Frase billing and limits work

Your Frase cost is determined by five practical inputs:

  • Plan: Starter, Professional, Scale, or a custom Enterprise agreement sets the base price.

  • Billing term: Annual billing lowers the effective monthly rate but charges the full year upfront.

  • Monthly capacity: Articles, audit pages, AI generations, Content Guard pages, and AI visibility prompts increase by tier.

  • Team size: Seats and domains can force an upgrade even when your content volume fits.

  • Optional usage: Professional and Scale can add seats or switch on pay-as-you-go overages; Starter stops at its limits.

Frase pricing plans breakdown

Frase offers Starter, Professional, Scale, and Enterprise. The real difference is how much content you can create, monitor, and update, plus how many people and sites share the account.

Starter ($39/month annually or $49 month to month)

At $39/month annually or $49 month to month, Starter fits one person running the Frase workflow on one site.

Frase Starter plan pricing and features highlighting 1 seat, 1 site, 10 articles, and 50 audit pages

Starter includes:

  • Team and sites: 1 seat and 1 site.

  • Monthly work: 10 articles, 50 audit pages, and 25 AI generations.

  • Monitoring: 3 Content Guard pages and 50 AI visibility prompts.

  • AI visibility: ChatGPT and Google AI monitoring.

  • Publishing: WordPress, Webflow, Sanity, Wix, or FraseCMS support.

  • Core workflow: Research, drafting, SEO and GEO scoring, audits, and CMS publishing.

Starter makes sense when one person can stay within 10 articles and 50 audited pages each month.

A second site or an eleventh article is the practical upgrade point because Starter holds at its monthly limits instead of billing overages.

Professional ($103/month annually or $129 month to month)

At $103/month annually or $129 month to month, Professional is the first team plan. It expands collaboration, site coverage, planning, monitoring, and publishing capacity.

Professional is built for in-house teams that need several sites in one workspace and want the option to keep working past included limits.

Frase Professional plan features highlighting 3 seats, 5 sites, 40 articles, and Perplexity visibility

Compared with Starter, Professional adds:

  • Team and sites: 3 included seats and 5 sites.

  • Monthly work: 40 articles, 250 audit pages, and 100 AI generations.

  • Visuals: 20 AI diagrams or infographics.

  • Monitoring: 15 Content Guard pages and 200 AI visibility prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI, and Perplexity.

  • Workflow tools: A content calendar, internal-link suggestions, and AI crawler monitoring.

  • Publishing autonomy: Agent drafting and auto-publishing for FAQ, glossary, and how-to pages.

  • Flexible capacity: Optional pay-as-you-go overages and extra seats at $29/month each.

Professional earns the upgrade when collaboration, five-site coverage, planning tools, or optional overages remove a real bottleneck. If you only need one seat and one site, Starter is easier to justify.

Scale ($239/month annually or $299 month to month)

At $239/month annually or $299/month month to month, Scale targets agencies and multi-site brands that need more volume, wider AI monitoring, and client reporting.

Annual billing costs $2,868 upfront, which is $720 less than twelve monthly payments. Make sure the higher limits are useful before committing that cash.

Frase Scale plan features highlighting 5 seats, 10 domains, and 100 articles limit

Scale includes:

  • Team and domains: 5 included seats and up to 10 domains.

  • Monthly work: 100 articles, 1,000 audit pages, and 350 AI generations.

  • Visuals: 50 AI diagrams or infographics.

  • Monitoring: 50 Content Guard pages and 500 AI visibility prompts across ChatGPT, Google AI, Perplexity, Claude, and Gemini.

  • Agency delivery: Exportable client reports and content repurposing for other channels.

  • Publishing autonomy: Agent drafting and auto-publishing across content types, within the monthly cap.

  • Lower overages: $4 per extra article, $0.40 per audit page, and $0.20 per AI prompt when pay-as-you-go is enabled.

Enterprise (custom pricing)

Enterprise is where Frase moves beyond self-serve limits into custom security, branding, reporting, and access requirements.

Frase Enterprise plan custom pricing and white-label reporting features

  • Custom scale: Seats, domains, usage limits, and API access are scoped to the organization.

  • Client experience: White-label reports, a branded client portal, and a custom domain.

  • Security and support: SSO, SAML, a dedicated account manager, and an SLA.

  • Reporting history: Two years of historical data.

  • Pricing: A custom quote through Frase sales.

Choose Enterprise when white-label delivery, SSO, a custom domain, or contract-level requirements matter. Otherwise, Scale remains the highest self-serve option.

Frase overage rates and extra seats

Starter stops when it reaches its monthly limits. Professional and Scale can continue only when you deliberately enable pay-as-you-go capacity, which is off by default.

Current expansion costs are:

Frase extra seats pricing showing $29 per month per seat

  • Professional overages: $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page, and $0.25 per AI prompt.

  • Scale overages: $4 per extra article, $0.40 per audit page, and $0.20 per AI prompt.

  • Extra seats: $29/month each on Professional and Scale.

  • Starter: No overage billing; wait for the reset or upgrade.

Overages bill at the end of the cycle only after you switch them on. The listed subscription is therefore your floor, while seats and usage can raise the final invoice.

What Frase really costs

Frase's listed annual commitment runs from $468 to $2,868 before Enterprise. Month-to-month billing, extra seats, and enabled overages can raise the total.

The prepaid annual totals are:

  • Starter: $468

  • Professional: $1,236

  • Scale: $2,868

  • Enterprise: quoted, with no public annual total

Other costs to budget for

Extra seats and opt-in overages sit above the base plan. Your internal writing, subject-matter review, and approval time also remain part of the operating cost.

Existing stack

Frase lowers your total software spend only when it replaces work or subscriptions you can actually stop using. If your team keeps separate AI visibility, auditing, publishing, or optimization tools, the overlap adds cost.

Price the full workflow, not just the login. The cheapest plan is not the cheapest operating model if your team still has to bridge several tools and approval steps.

Who is each plan best for?

Choose the plan by your first binding limit, not by the feature list alone. Seats, domains, article volume, audit pages, monitoring coverage, and reporting needs create the clearest upgrade signals.

Frase pricing plans best for audience summary strips

Use these decision rules:

  • Choose Starter if one person runs one site within 10 articles and 50 audited pages each month.

  • Choose Professional when up to three teammates, five sites, planning tools, internal-link suggestions, or optional overages matter.

  • Choose Scale when you need up to 10 domains, client reports, wider AI-engine coverage, or substantially higher volume.

  • Choose Enterprise when white-label delivery, SSO, a custom domain, an SLA, or custom limits drive the purchase.

Is Frase worth it?

Frase can be worth the cost if you want one system for research, drafting, CMS publishing, page audits, AI visibility monitoring, and approved content updates. The right tier depends on how much of that loop you will actually run.

My trial covered the writing and scoring side, not CMS publishing or Search Console monitoring. On the part I did run, Frase moved fast and stopped short of finishing the job.

Its current value comes from four connected jobs:

  • Create and publish: Frase researches topics, drafts content, scores it for SEO and GEO, and publishes to supported CMS platforms.

Frase content editor with a finished draft, a combined optimization score of 73%, counts for 2,201 words, 13 headers and 15 links, an EEAT score of 47%, and a Connect CMS button

  • Audit and prioritize: Audits score existing pages and return a prioritized fix list with the issues to clear first.

Frase audit results for rankup.so showing a health score of 79, an AI visibility score of 36, and a Fix Pack listing prioritized issues such as missing title tags and H1 tags with estimated score improvements

  • Track AI visibility: Monitoring reports how often your pages appear and get cited, which queries you win and lose, and where the openings are.

  • Propose and ship updates: Content Guard can write a revision and republish it after approval, with optional autonomy for selected low-risk fixes.

What the trial exposed

Automation does not remove the need for approval, and in my trial it did not remove the work either. Frase flagged the gaps in its own draft without being able to close them.

Its content diagnostic put authority at 0%, then asked for citations and expert sources, data and statistics, and first-hand experience. Those are the three things Frase cannot supply for you.

Frase Content Diagnostic modal with Authority scored at 0% and flagged Needs attention, listing three E-E-A-T tips: add citations and expert sources, add data and statistics, and add first-hand experience

The optimization score moved on word count, headers, and links. That describes how an article is built, not whether it answers better than the pages already ranking.

Frase content editor checklist panel headed Combined optimization score, listing sections 0 of 13, coverage 0%, words 0, headers 0, links 0, and images 0, with a 0% Ready for reviewer bar before drafting starts

The AI visibility figures were harder to act on. Frase's assistant reported zero citations and zero mentions for my site, and nothing in the interface explains how it reaches that number.

Nothing in the run asked for my input. Frase researched the topic, built a brief, and drafted from public sources, so none of my product knowledge reached the page.

What stays with you at every tier

Upgrading buys capacity, not judgment. Two jobs sit on your side of the line no matter which plan you pick.

  • Brand context: Frase accepts brand voice notes, terms, and reference documents. You write and maintain them, and that context does not compound from one article to the next.

  • Priorities and publish calls: You decide which pages matter, which proposed revisions go live, and which ones do not.

The bottom line

Starter is compelling for a single site at modest volume. Professional earns its price through collaboration and broader workflow support, while Scale needs agency, multi-domain, reporting, or volume demands to justify its larger commitment.

Budget editing time on top of whichever tier you pick. The draft Frase produced was not publishable as it stood, and closing that gap runs roughly two to three hours per article.

Worth it when: Frase replaces several disconnected steps and your expected usage fits the chosen limits.

  • You want research, writing, optimization, publishing, monitoring, and approved updates in one subscription.

  • Your team will use the included articles, audits, AI visibility prompts, and Content Guard coverage.

  • You value an approval-based workflow but want the software to draft and implement more of the work.

Less worth it when: Your existing stack already covers AI visibility, CMS publishing, content audits, SERP optimization, and internal-link suggestions. In that setup, Frase can duplicate software instead of removing a handoff.

An alternative for persistent, brand-aware execution

Frase is a credible choice when you want its publishing, monitoring, scoring, and update loop inside one platform. Consider RankUp instead when your problem is carrying SaaS-specific context and ownership through the whole content operation.

RankUp handles planning, brand-aware writing, existing-content updates, and performance work through one persistent business context.

RankUp agenda view showing one dashboard with Create articles (3 drafts ready for review, 7 pending), Refresh content (123 pending pages), and Audit fixes (88 pending), with Lyra the Content Manager in the side panel

The system begins with your site, market, brand rules, and existing knowledge, then assigns the work across RankUp's SEO agents.

Magnus turns competitor and keyword research into clustered topic priorities before writing begins. The planning view shows those related topics and their priority order:

RankUp content plan grouping keywords into Monthly Buyer-Led Plan and Month 2 with volume and priority scores

Cedric takes a selected topic through live SERP research, outline, blueprint, focused interview, draft, review, and internal links. You answer only the questions that fill a material knowledge gap.

The outline comes out of that SERP work rather than a template. Cedric builds the H2 and H3 structure from competitor analysis before any drafting starts:

RankUp outline generation showing 11 H2 sections and 10 H3 subsections built from SERP competitor analysis

The blueprint then fills that structure in. Each section arrives with a direct answer already drafted and the specific talking points to cover:

RankUp blueprint showing a direct answer and numbered talking points for each article section

Cedric writes from that blueprint with your style guides and creative brief loaded. The review pass then checks the draft against those same rules and lists every gap by category:

Before publication, internal-linking work maps the article against your existing site and prioritizes relevant destinations. This keeps the implementation inside the same review flow.

The knowledge base retains product details and decisions gathered during the work, so later plans and drafts begin with more of your context already available.

Lyra keeps live pages in the same loop. As AI Content Manager, she finds pages that slipped, decides the move, and routes the writing to Cedric as reviewable edits.

The same content-management layer produces monthly reports that explain what changed, why it changed, and what should happen next.

RankUp starts by understanding your business and analyzing your site. It runs a light AI-search audit, identifies topics and next actions, and proposes a custom ongoing plan tailored to your needs.

Once you have that plan, start your 7-day free trial. The trial is only available to SaaS and technology companies with English-language websites.

During the trial, you can create and refine content, then use the remaining access for content refreshes.

If you want help discussing the proposed plan, an optional planning call is available.

Frase pricing FAQs

Does Frase have a free trial?

Yes. Frase offers a 7-day free trial with no credit card, using Professional-level features within trial-specific limits.

The trial includes:

  • Capacity: Up to 5 articles, 50 audit pages, 25 AI prompts, and 3 seats.

  • Workflow tools: The content calendar, internal linking, and Frase's content AI engines.

  • AI visibility: Monitoring on ChatGPT and Google AI.

  • Limit: Auto-publishing and some agent autonomy remain off during the trial.

Check the current details on Frase's official pricing page.

Can you cancel Frase anytime?

Yes. You can cancel Frase from Settings → Subscription → Cancel Subscription, and your access continues until the end of the current billing period.

If the cancel button is unavailable, contact Frase support for help. Review the official cancellation instructions before prepaying for an annual plan.

How much do you save with annual billing?

Annual billing saves about 20%: $120/year on Starter, $312/year on Professional, and $720/year on Scale.

You prepay all twelve months to get the discount, so test the workflow before making the annual commitment.

What happens if you hit plan limits?

Starter stops at its monthly limit until the cycle resets or you upgrade. It does not create an automatic overage charge.

Professional and Scale can continue only if you enable optional pay-as-you-go capacity:

  • Professional: $5 per extra article, $0.50 per audit page, and $0.25 per AI prompt.

  • Scale: $4 per extra article, $0.40 per audit page, and $0.20 per AI prompt.

Pay-as-you-go is off by default and bills at the end of the cycle when enabled. Frase's official pricing page is the current source for limits and rates.

Does Frase offer refunds?

Frase generally does not offer refunds because it provides a free trial and requires manual signup. It typically does not refund unused annual-plan months or past charges when cancellation was not submitted.

Read Frase's official refund and cancellation policy before paying annually.

The safer sequence is to use the 7-day trial, choose monthly billing if you are still unsure, and move to annual billing only after the workflow fits.
